There. That's the Arsenal I've come to know and love. Head out on the road and totally dominate the opposition only to squeak out three points. Get a lead and then give up a soft goal. Yep…the season is officially upon us. Hope you have your antacid. I for one went to Sam's and bought the large. Actually I bought five of the large. My doctor tried to tell me its acid reflux. I graciously thanked him for his opinion and I told him I support the Arsenal. He changed his prognosis. Even Doc McStuffins gets it.
The match. Oh yeah…we responded. This will be a good win as the season goes on. Selhurst will be a fickle mistress when it comes to giving up points this season. Honestly, going into it I was completely okay with a draw. So in the end I got a bonus. We played so well the first 20 minutes. Dat Giroud goal….sheesh. Almost makes me forget about all of those other Giroud sitters that he buried…wait…oh yeah, those are still sitting. Really good take by the HFB, honestly. Also, if we're on the topic of honesty we should have been up three goals at that point it felt like. As much as an animal Alexis is, it's clear it will take him a few to get back up to match speed. You can't blame his effort on Sunday. He almost willed the own goal to happen. I don't think its any coincidence that slotting Cazorla back with Coquelin and moving Ramsey out wide led to us looking more dangerous. Santi seems to really excel back there for whatever reason. It led us down the stretch last season so I think Arsene's one match to tinker with that was West Ham. No more. If I can see that here in Oklahoma surely Le Boss can see it from where he sits.
Also painfully clear is that it's going to take our back line a bit to gel. I guess that's to be expected. Of the three goals Cech has let in, I can really only lay that first one at his feet. The other two have been huge letdowns by those in front of him. I haven't seen a pirouette as good as Koscielny's on Sunday in a while. Probably not since I watched some ice skating from Sochi. The problem is this doesn't do us any favors. Thank God BFG chose to close down later in the match or the result may have been a bit different. Am I worried? Not really. I still think this squad will come good and the back line will gel. In Cech I still believe.
The problem is we need to gel like ASAP. My early season impression is that Citeh may be doing a Chavski of last season. Fly right out of the gate and cruise to the title. Which means that we have so little margin for error these first 6-8 weeks. I thought we needed to collect at least 24 points these first ten matches to really mount a challenge. I still stand by that. If we do that I think we're in it until the end. If not…we'll shiny up that fourth place "trophy" I guess.
Rumors! Rumors! More rumors! This window can't close soon enough. I'm to the point now I couldn't care less if we sign someone or not. I just want the window to close so we know what we have to work with going forward. Zlatan! Big Benz! Lewandowski! Goetze! Beckham! Pele! Sign 'em all! Sign none of them! Click here! Read there! I'm just done. Done I say. I'm of the mind that the window should shut before the season starts. Only makes sense. For my sanity at least.
Anyway…we have a tussle with the Scousers coming up. On a Monday. Come on. These Monday matches are just rat bastards. Brenda's Army comes to town looking for redemption from that 4-1 smack down we dealt them. Pretty sure only about 5 players are even left on the squad from that pasting. Good. They can experience their own. Liverpool comes in with their huge payroll and movement in the transfer market. Let's be honest. Just because you bought the primo super deluxe edition of a Hyundai doesn't mean you didn't buy a Hyundai.. (No offense to any Hyundai owners) For a guy that's spent more money than our annual GDP, Brenda sure doesn't have a lot to show for it. Frankly he buys crap. Here's a drinking game. Take a shot for everyone of Coutinho's strikes that are on target. Guess what…drink water and you'll get a better buzz. Hahahaha…and people say he's better than Ozil?
I'll have a bit of whatever they're having….
Until next time…UTA and get in you Sooner Gooners!!!
